Dear Friends and Families –
We have had a fantastic time in Samburu, we will be leaving tomorrow to drive into the Rift Valley and see Lake Nakuru, world-famous home of the flamingoes.
We are all well and in good spirits, overjoyed like children at a candy store with the sighting of each new animal.
Our drive to Samburu was long, adventurous, and educational. Two flat tires on the road north gave us the opportunity to meet children from a rural school and see their work. We gave them some bottled water and pencils. At the next stop, we chatted with some Samburu women – a lady who is 38, her two daughters, one who is 18 years old, married with two children. Quite a culture shock.
The elephants at Samburu were amazing, the fat crocodiles were scary, the monkeys very cute. (Google black faced vervet monkey !)
Wish us safe travels. We miss you all.

What a day you have had...I guess it true...it's not just the destination but the journey...elephants and monkeys and crocs, oh my! But 2 flat tires...glad you could make an adventure out of it...and meet new people along the way. The pictures of the lodges you are visiting are wonderful...and the lake will be pink!! Glad you are all well and enjoying yourselves. Great to hear from you...we were afraid that internet access could be even more difficult on safari! Thank you for the update...best to all...love to Allison...Stacey and John
