Kibera Children's Photography
This summer we asked a group of young people from the Red Rose School, the Green Pastures School, and the Kibra Academy to document aspects of their lives at school and out of school through photography using simple disposable cameras. A selection of the best images from this project will be posterized for a travelling photodocumentary to schools around the USA and possibly for a coffeetable book. We eventually hope to through the telling of the stories of the lives of these young people to encourage cross-cultural dialogue and raise funds to support the education of young people in Kibera and the enhancement of their artistic potential.

All checked in for the flights home ...
Jambo -
It is 10.20 pm on Tuesday July 2nd, and your loved ones will be afloat soon on their way home to you.
I just saw them with the British Airways and Kenya Airways boarding passes, and I could not take them past the security gate.
Thank you all for sending them to Kenya with me. I have a great time introducing them to the country and the people. I believe they will have fond memories and take some meaning from the things they learnt on this trip.
Happy summer. Feel free to shoot me an email any time.
Sincerely,
Ken Okoth

Foothills of the Kilimanjaro
Friends -
We left Nairobi this morning after breakfast, drove southwards down to Amboseli via the Kenya/Tanzania border at Namanga where we stopped to buy some gifts and souvenirs. We arrived at Ol Tukai Lodge in the Amboseli National Park in time for lunch. Our rooms are in cottages looking out to plains that extend as far as the eye can see. From our porches, we can see zebra, elephants, wildebeeste, thompson's gazelles, and ostriches. The cottages on the other side have the mountain view, looking right at Mt. Kilimajaro and its peak when the clouds clear up. Some of the younger people on our crew are enjoying the swimming pool right now after lunch, and we will all head out for a game drive as the sun starts coming down around 4 pm.
Just wanted to let you know we are all ok here. Best wishes to you all,
