All checked in for the flights home ...

Jambo -
It is 10.20 pm on Tuesday July 2nd, and your loved ones will be afloat soon on their way home to you.

I just saw them with the British Airways and Kenya Airways boarding passes, and I could not take them past the security gate.

Thank you all for sending them to Kenya with me. I have a great time introducing them to the country and the people. I believe they will have fond memories and take some meaning from the things they learnt on this trip.

Happy summer. Feel free to shoot me an email any time.

Sincerely,

Ken Okoth

Ken -
Thank YOU!!!! And the rest of your intrepid team. You have provided a wonderful experience for us all (we learned so much just from preparing for and reading about the trip), and perhaps most importantly, for the children at the Red Rose School. They will never forget their visiting American and Kenyan/American friends.

Have a wonderful summer now that you can relax. We will let you know when the kids are home.

It is a bit sad knowing you will not be at the airport as well tomorrow! We will have to wait until August to pepper you with questions.

Warmest wishes -
Mittie, Curtis and Tom

Ken -
Many thanks again for providing this unforgettable experience to Caitlin. I can't wait to hear all about everything and will no doubt email you again after I absorb her views on the entire trip. Know that I found myself absorbed in the photos and was so taken with how happy everyone seemed. It is now time for you to enjoy your country and some well deserved time off. Have a wonderful break from all the responsibilities. With a grateful heart, Ginger Black

This trip has been an adventure for us all that we are sad to see end...I think we will be picking up some mighty unhappy kids tomorrow...sorry that they are back home and not with you and all the wonderful friends they made in Kenya. It has been an unforgettable experience and I never left home! I will miss the daily updates and photos!! You planned an ambitious trip with community service, computers and gifts, Swahili lessons, articles to read, schools to visit, friends to meet, safari trips on the ground and in the air(!), elephants, lions, giraffes, oh my...You were a brave man to take this on (and I am sure you wondered if you were crazy or something!)but I think you had a wonderful bunch of fellow travelers! We hope you have a relaxing rest of the summer. Please thank your family and friends and especially Jeff (for all the photos). And all of the wonderful students and teachers at Red Rose School. They certainly helped make this trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We will look forward to seeing you in August. It may be time to plan the next gathering to share photos and remembrances...how about our place!?
All the best!
